Learning English through Storytime

Wednesdays 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 August & 5 September, 9 – 10am
Child and Parent Centre – Challis
40 Braemore Street, Armadale

Learning English through Storytime will be held at the Child and Parent Centre - Challis during Term 3.

These workshops assist families to improve and practice English in a fun educational environment.

Sessions include songs, rhymes and stories plus interactive activities which develop children's confidence and school readiness.

The program is suitable for children aged three to four years and their carers. Parents and children participate in the activities together; parents should be able to speak basic English.

This program will run for six sessions. Morning tea will be available.

Reversing Global Warming

Join us for this workshop on the Pachamama Alliance Drawdown Initiative, presented by Merrilee Baker.

Learn about a comprehensive scientific study of 100 solutions that together, could actually reverse global warming by 2050.

Connect with the local community to find inspiration and discover new possibilities for addressing global warming.

Learn how you can change the conversation about global warming from game over to game on!

Beyond the first draft with Laurie Steed

Join acclaimed short story author Laurie Steed as he takes you behind the scenes in the judging and editing of short stories for competitions and publication. Find out:

• Where to pay most careful attention when crafting a story for submission.

Sensory fun for babies!

Let's have some fun with our baby sensory play equipment!

Bond and explore with your baby as you enjoy an inviting and stimulating play space in the library. Sing songs, recite rhymes and play with bubbles, balls, scarves, puppets and more!

My Answers to Cancer with Cathy Brown

Given a terminal cancer diagnosis in 1989, Cathy Brown set out on her own inspirational journey of healing.

As a long term survivor of secondary melanoma, Cathy knows what it takes to be truly well. Her terminal diagnosis initiated an amazing journey, which led to a lifelong commitment to share her knowledge and insights to help others.

Cathy is not promoting products or magical cures, just sharing an open and honest account of her journey.

Come and meet this inspirational woman who is a living example of the power of the will to live.

Food, fun and fallacies of childhood

Some people have vivid memories of their childhood - some are fun memories, some are mischievous; some recall foods to die for and others to be avoided; while some beliefs and expectations are distorted as seen through the eyes of a child.

Come and hear our panel of speakers who grew up in the district as they share their stories, and afterwards you might like to share any memories that are rekindled during the afternoon.
