An Introduction to Meditation

Armadale Young Writers’ Awards: Writing Workshops

Norman Jorgensen is an award winning and well known Western Australian author. He has written over a dozen books for children and young adults including The Last Viking and The Smuggler's Curse.

Meet Norman during these workshops and gain some writing tips!

These sessions are open to students in years three to12 who reside, or attend school, in the City of Armadale.

Eric McCrum: The Birdman

You may have heard Eric The Birdman McCrum on ABC radio?
He is a nature educator and enthusiast who can imitate the call of almost any bird found in the Australian bush.

Eric will be at the Kelmscott Library to talk about and imitate the birdlife of Australia.

Tales from over the back fence

Although documented history of the City of Armadale can be read in books, there are lots of stories that have not been recorded. Some are quirky, some serious and some are just hard to believe.

At this session, a group of long term local residents will share their less than ordinary stories.

National Simultaneous Storytime: Hickory Dickory Dash

Before the clock infamously strikes one, a poor mother mouse must search the house for her two missing sons. But she'd better watch out for the cat!

Join us, along with thousands of libraries, schools and bookstores across Australia, as we promote the value of reading and literacy when we regale you with the tale, Hickory, Dickory Dash by Tony Wilson and Laura Wood.

There will be songs and craft at this celebration of storytime!
This session is suitable for pre-school children.

Traveling Tales with Stephen Scourfield

Join us for an hour of engaging stories with award winning travel editor, author and photographer Stephen Scourfield.

“Bringing back stories is one of the most important reasons for travel. Stories last long within us. It is these that we first tell with relish, then cherish and embellish and make part of our own story.”

Stephen has been Travel Editor of The West Australian for nearly 20 years and twice been named Australia’s best travel writer, and a recipient of a United Nations Media Award for fairness in publishing.

Stephen brings a personal and insightful slant to his extensive travel experiences and knowledge of the writer’s craft.
