City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones, OAM was recently recognised for his personal commitment and exemplary contribution to the community, when he was awarded the WALGA Life Membership Award.
The award is part of the 2014 WALGA Honours Program, which recognised people who are some of the most valuable and committed members of the community.
City of Armadale Chief Executive Officer, Mr Ray Tame, congratulated Mayor Zelones on the award.
“The award is richly deserved and recognises his tireless work and years of exemplary contribution to the community he loves.
“Mayor Zelones has played vital roles in the progress of business, tourism, urban growth and development of the region during his time on Council,” said Mr Tame.
Congratulations also to several of the City’s Councillors, with Councillor Jeff Munn awarded the Eminent Service Award and Cr Ruth Butterfield the Merit Award. Ex- Councillor June MacDonald received a Merit Award.
Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones also congratulated the City’s Chief Executive Officer, who received the Distinguished Officer’s Award.
“Mr Tame is a worthy winner of the award. Acknowledgment for his lifetime of service to the people of Armadale and 42 year career in Local Government, as both an Engineer and as a CEO, is well deserved for his outstanding commitment,” said Mayor Zelones.
The nominees received their awards during a presentation at the Local Government Convention on Wednesday, 6 August 2014 at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre.
