The official opening of the City of Armadale’s new building at 151 Jull Street reflects the economic progress of the region and its thriving community.

WA Premier Colin Barnett officially opened the $19 million project on 30 March along with the City’s Mayor Henry Zelones and CEO Ray Tame.

The City also played host to the State Government’s regular Cabinet Meeting after the opening ceremony, with Ministers taking the opportunity to visit various local facilities during the day.

Mayor Zelones said hosting the State cabinet provided a valuable opportunity to meet with Ministers and to shine a light on the amazing growth taking place in the City.

“The City’s new building on Jull Street clearly reflects the vision we have for Armadale and our focus on attracting investment,” he said.

“In providing this building, we have looked ahead and built a four-storey state-of-theart facility to meet the district’s growth needs and provide office space for lease to other agencies.

“We have already leased space to the Department for Child Protection and Family Support over two floors and tenants are currently being negotiated for the last of the available space.

“The complex offers a quality example of the new generation of buildings anticipated within the city centre, and it is hoped it will act as a catalyst to investment in the heart of the city.”

Mayor Zelones said significant investment growth is already taking place throughout the City, with the Forrestdale Business Park (FBP) having already attracted $275 million in private sector development.

It is anticipated that FBP will create jobs for about 15,000 people when fully developed.

The City has also developed an Economic Development Strategy and Business Investment Prospectus as a guide to potential investors.

“We are committed to working with business, developers, government agencies and community groups to ensure Armadale fully realises its Strategic Metropolitan Centre status while maintaining the unique natural and built heritage of the area,” Mayor Zelones said.

“The City’s population will reach 79,000 by June this year.

“Diverse new land and housing developments cater to a range of residents, from young families wanting an affordable start to those looking to upgrade in areas such as Piara Waters and Harrisdale.

“Then there’s the highly sought hills areas and infill development across the established areas of the district. There really is something to suit everyone and the lifestyle we enjoy, so close to natural beauty but with all of the suburban amenities, truly is enviable.”

Mayor Zelones said the Armadale City Centre will be a gateway for retail, commercial and residential activity for the next 20 years.

He said businesses, developers and residents alike are drawn to the attractive and affordable investment options available and the forecast growth for the region.
