The tenth meeting of the Local Implementation Committee (LIC) was held at the City of Armadale on Tuesday 23 September 2014.

The LIC acknowledged that both Armadale and Murray are focusing on ‘business as usual’ pending the announcement on reform which is expected during the first week of October.

The Chairperson of the LIC, Mayor Henry Zelones said that while the wait was frustrating, both Councils, as high growth areas, had more than enough to focus on with everyday operations.

“The LIC noted that the City of Armadale will shortly be advertising several reformrelated vacancies. These positions have been identified as crucial to the task ahead and will ensure that all the work that has to be completed can, and will, be achieved.

“The first WALGA facilitated network meeting of local government reform project officers was held in mid-September, attended by representatives from 22 of 27 Councils invited. As well as a presentation by Town of Victoria Park on their experience with reform to date, an ‘open floor’ session allowed for shared learning as officers discussed issues pertinent to their particular Councils and LIC.

“The LIC acknowledged the large volume of work underway through the Working Groups Update,” said Mayor Zelones.

The next meeting of the LIC will be on Tuesday 21 October 2014 at the Shire of Murray.
