The City of Armadale has awarded St Matthew’s Anglican Church a $5,000 Community Grant toward its Emergency Food Relief Program.

The City’s 2019/2020 Community Grants Program is designed to support activities that enrich local communities, funding new initiatives and projects for non-profit and incorporated community groups.

“St Matthew’s Anglican Church carries out extremely important work in our community and we are very pleased to be able to offer them this funding,” said City of Armadale Mayor, Ruth Butterfield.

“The impacts of COVID-19 will be long-lasting, and we know that this support will enable them to continue to assist vulnerable members of our community during this challenging time.”

The St Matthew’s Anglican Church funding will provide a hot meal, drink and food hamper to those in need.

Between the period of 2019-2020, St Matthew’s Anglican Church have provided more than 500 hampers and meals to vulnerable community members.

It is expected that demand for hampers will increase as the City’s community copes with the economic impacts of COVID-19. The funding will increase capacity to provide an additional 1,000 hampers over the next year.
