Following a traffic analysis investigation in the Kelmscott Town Centre by Main Roads WA (MRWA), Streich Avenue in Kelmscott now has a 50km/hr speed limit.

The City submitted a formal request to MRWA to consider reducing speed limits on:

  • Albany Highway, Turner Place to Church Street
  • Railway Avenue, Westfield Road to Bray Street
  • Streich Avenue, Albany Highway to Davis Road

“Main Road is the authority responsible for assessing and installing speed signage on State and local roads,” said Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP.

“Based on our recommendations MRWA has agreed the reduction of the speed limit to 50km/hr at Streich Avenue would be suitable for the area.

“However, MRWA have recommended that Albany Highway and Railway Avenue will be kept at 60km/hr.

“While we are pleased that Streich Avenue will now be a 50km/hr speed limit the City is not satisfied that a reduction of Albany Highway and Railway Avenue could not be supported, and we will be taking the matter up again with MRWA.
