Opening ceremony of Rossiter Pavilion
Release Date:
Thursday, 5 July 2018

A second state-of-the-art pavilion and playing field was officially declared open at a ribbon cutting ceremony in Piara Waters on 5 July.

Rossiter Pavilion and Playing Fields is the second of nine shared significant community recreation precincts that will open over the next 14 years. Rossiter Pavilion and Playing Fields is part of a significant shared recreation precinct with the Aspiri Primary School.

City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP officially opened the pavilion with the help of Piara Waters resident, four year old James Hagdorn.

Despite the wet weather over 40 guests turned up to celebrate the completion of the project that had been in the pipeline since 2016 including delegates from the Department of Sport and Recreation and the Department of Education, Architects Fratelle Group and Builders Alita Constructions, along with City staff.

City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM JP said the community facility will provide an additional service in one of the fastest growing regions in the City’s western suburbs.

“A community amenity of this nature provides a central shared use space that brings residents together and further develops their sense of community.

“The new facility boasts a main hall including a large kitchen and servery, a club room with a kitchen and dual serveries, a multi-purpose room with indoor and outdoor play and kitchenette, a meeting room, four change rooms, storage areas, two referee change rooms, two universal toilets including a shower, a large viewing area, spectator tiered seating and parking,” he said.

The total project cost is over $7.3 million, with $6.5 million for the facility and playing fields from the City’s Development Contribution Plan No.3 in addition to a $500,000 grant provided through the Department of Sport and Recreation’s Community Sport and Recreation Facilities Fund for the Pavilion and a $340,000 contribution from the Department of Education for the shared playing fields.

The facility is now open for community bookings. Contact 9394 5000 for more information or email info@armadale.wa.gov.au.
