The City is to receive a total of $3,515,984 from the Federal Governments Roads to Recovery Program for the period 1 July 2014 to 30 June 2019.
The additional funding of $155,766 will be allocated for the 2014 - 2015 financial year, to make local roads safer.
The following road projects will be brought forward from the City’s Forward Five Year Civil Works Program into the 2015 Annual Budget:
- Roberts Road, Kelmscott - $76,300
- Curlew Court, Kelmscott - $33,700
- Lockhart Road, Kelmscott - $45,766
Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones said these road maintenance projects are part of the City’s long-term plan aimed at meeting the needs of our rapidly growing community.
“Armadale is one of the fastest growing cities in the state, with an average of 10 people moving into the City every day of the year and 30 new homes being finished every week.
“The upgrade of road networks is aimed at meeting the needs of the expanding population and better catering for the influx of commuters regularly passing through the area.
“We are continually working with Main Roads WA to make local roads safer and improving the flow of traffic through the City Centre,” said Mayor Zelones.
