Throughout the year the City of Armadale is hosting a series of Positive Ageing Sessions at the Armadale Library to engage older members of the community.

The sessions are held each month and cover a wide range of topics such as safety and security, health, activities for older people and other useful information.

The next forum will be held at the Armadale Library, Armadale Central Shopping Centre, on Wednesday 1 October from 1.30 to 4pm.

A representative from the Office of the Public Advocate will discuss three tools that give adults control over decisions made on their behalf, should they need care and support in the future.

Mayor Henry Zelones said it is important for everyone to prepare for their future years.

“It is something no one likes to think or talk about, but as you get older there is a need to appoint someone to make decisions about your lifestyle and care if you should become unwell or are injured.

“The presenter will explain how to make an Enduring Power of Attorney, Enduring Power of Guardianship and Advance Health Directive, and what they mean.

“The session will explain how these legal forms actually provide you with the right to make your own decisions and manage your affairs for your future years,” said Mayor Zelones.

Light refreshments will be provided. Bookings are essential as numbers are limited. Call 9399 0125.
