On the weekend of 24 and 25 November, avocado aficionados will unite in celebration of this healthy, creamy and versatile fruit.

Perth’s only Avocado Festival sees the two day event return to the region, taking place against the picturesque backdrop of Araluen Botanic Park located just 35km from Perth City.

The program features live music, entertainment, cooking demos and stalls serving up a variety of green delights including smashed avo, avocado beer and cider, avocado cocktails, nachos and chips with guacamole, avocado pizza and bagels, frozen avocado yogurt pops and avocado ice cream.

Perthonalities delivering talks and cooking demos include ABC TV’s Verity James, Vince Garreffa from Mondo Butchers and gardening guru Sue McDougall. There will be avocado health and beauty products, the latest tools and gadgets and a range of avocado and chilli plants, including hard-to-find varieties, available for purchase.

City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said the region’s restaurants, bars, and retreats were celebrating with special avocado-themed offers throughout November in the lead up to the festival.

“The City of Armadale is home to scenic green hills, waterfalls and wildflowers which serve as the backdrop to the region’s increasingly popular attractions including restaurants, wineries, cideries, overnight stays and health retreats,” he said.

“Foodies and avocado fans can celebrate throughout the month of November and taste creative concoctions including avocado damper, avocado margaritas and avocado and pecan cake.”

Avocado’s Accommodation is offering limited packages for the weekend of the festival which includes two entry tickets, an overnight stay and breakfast for two at the scenic river view venue for just $130 (valued at $200).
