If you are an aspiring Tim Winton, an amateur Liz Byrski or a potential Louise Allan then put pen to paper and enter the City of Armadale's creative writing competition.

With a prize pool of $2250 up for grabs, the City of Armadale Writers' Awards are open to amateur adult writers living in Western Australia.

City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said following on from the creativity of the Armadale Writers' Festival, we are excited to announce the launch of the second year of the Armadale Writers' Award.

“The Arts is a very important part of the culture and heritage of the City of Armadale and we continue to support and enhance the arts in all forms, including creative writing.

“In opening the competition to all residents across WA, we hope to attract the talents of budding authors from as far afield as Esperance in our south, to Kununurra in the north and everywhere in between that have a story to tell.

“Entries will be judged by a panel of authors and librarians, who will be looking at the originality of themes, plot development, story structure, and the overall quality of writing by these aspiring writers”, said Mayor Zelones.

There is a generous prize pool on offer again this year, with a first prize of $1000, the second prize winner will receive $750 and the third prize will receive $500.

Entries are open from 1 to 30 September 2018. Entry for this competition is online only. The winners will be announced at a private award presentation on Friday 16 November.
