Nominations are officially open for the annual Community Citizen of the Year awards. Presented on Australia Day each year, the awards are an opportunity to celebrate local heroes who go above and beyond in service of their community.
Recognising local heroes for more than 20 years, the Awards are made up of four categories:
- Community Citizen of the Year (for individuals over 16 years)
- Young Community Citizen of the Year (for individuals aged 16-30 years)
- Senior Community Citizen of the Year (for individuals aged 65 years and over)
- Active Citizenship (for community groups or events)
Nominations can be made for contributions to education, health, fundraising, voluntary services, business, sports, arts, the environment, social inclusion or any other area that enhances the wellbeing of our community. For the full criteria, visit www.citizenshipawards.com.au/criteria
Mayor Ruth Butterfield said: “The Community Citizen of the Year Awards are an integral part of recognising the selfless work that so many people in our community do. These awards recognise the wonderful people who dedicate a part of their lives in greater service to others. Please take the time to nominate an unsung hero, so we can celebrate them and thank them for their contribution.”
Nominations for the 2025 Community Citizen of the Year Awards are now open until 31 October 2024 and can be submitted at www.citizenshipawards.com.au/nominate
