Making the Right Call

Who do you call when you need help? Join us as Constable Care teaches Zac the right numbers to call in an emergency. Making the Right Call is a fun puppet show that teaches children how to identify an emergency and the correct phone number to use in a range of situations.

Suitable for children aged two to nine years. Parents must stay with children during the event.

Positive Ageing Session - First Aid Demonstration for seniors
Wednesday 3 August, 1.30 – 4pm
Armadale Library

This First Aid demonstration by a representative of St John Ambulance can be used as an introduction to, or basis refresher on first aid knowledge and basic skills.

The presentation covers:

  • Common injuries and illnesses.
  • Respiratory system, including asthma management.
  • CPR demonstration.
  • Conditions affecting consciousness.
  • Heart conditions, including heart attacks and strokes.
  • Diabetes.
  • Shock/fainting management.
  • Bleeding management.
  • Recovery position.

Refreshments served from 1.30 – 1.50m. Presentation starts at 2pm.

Independent Self-Publishing

Ocean Reeve is the manager of InHouse Publishing, Australasia’s first Independent Publishing House that covers every stage of publishing; from manuscript appraisal right through to book distribution and marketing mentorship.

The presentation will cover many aspects of the publishing industry including:

  • Why should we publish?
  • The Independent Publishing process.
  • Understanding book marketing and the author’s role.

Wasteless Pantry

The crew from Wasteless Pantry will present an interactive workshop that will:

  • Provide time saving tips that will also cut your environmental footprint.
  • Present hints on making the most of what is in your pantry and fridge.
  • Demonstrate the science of good storage so you can keep food at its freshest.

This event is held as part of National Science Week thanks to Switch Your Thinking.
