Gwynne Park Reserve now has four new 30 meter lighting towers illuminating the sporting grounds.

The City has recently completed sports lighting upgrades at Gwynne Park Reserve as part of the 2014/15 Parks Capital Budget.

“This project formed part of a broader Council initiative to upgrade sports oval lighting across the City’s active reserves including Morgan Park, Rushton Park and Alfred Skeet Ovals,” said Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP.

“Lighting upgrades on the Gwynne Park junior oval were completed under budget at a cost of $250,000.

“The project included the installation of four new 30 meter lighting towers, sub meters and supporting electrical infrastructure,” he said.

Local clubs were engaged early in the design process to consider some minor impacts on the spatial playing areas and to ensure the works achieved the desired outcomes for all stakeholders.

Stage Two lighting upgrades on the Gwynne Park main ovals are proposed to commence as part of the 2015/16 draft budget with completion of a full lighting upgrade in the 2016/17 financial year.
