The City of Armadale’s Positive Ageing Seniors Festival 2014 will have a jam-packed calendar of events with free craft classes, information sessions, an expo, pole walking and other activities across the City during November.

Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones is encouraging seniors in the community to attend one or more of the events and make the most of our Seniors Festival celebrations.

“Every year we like to acknowledge and celebrate the contributions seniors make to our community.”

“This year’s Seniors Festival is bigger and better with a variety of events and activities for everyone to enjoy.”

“If you have ever wanted to have a go at kayaking, you can learn some basic paddling skills during a session with trained staff at Champion Lakes.”

“Why not bring your family and friends and enjoy a morning of board games at the Armadale Library, visit the Seniors Expo where you can get an array of information and advice from a variety of groups and organisations, or scan some special family documents or photos at the Birtwistle Local Studies Library.”

“There are lots of special events, with Armadale RSL holding a Remembrance Day Service followed by refreshments and Kelmscott Church of Christ hosting a high tea and concert for local seniors.”

“You can join the Next Stop Armadale Step Out and Discover tour to learn the area’s history and heritage or finish off the week with a pole walking exercise activity around Minnawarra Park, followed by a light morning tea.”

“There is plenty to do, see and participate in, during this Seniors Festival and I encourage everyone to make the most of these opportunities to relax, learn something new and be entertained,” said Mayor Zelones.

The Seniors Festival 2014 is proudly supported by the City of Armadale, Dale Cottages, Araluen Golf Resort, Armadale RSL, Kelmscott Church of Christ and Champion Lakes Boating Club.
