National Ride2School Day this year and saw more than 350,000 students Australia wide ride, walk, scoot or skate to school.

National Ride2School Day is the perfect opportunity for Australian students and school communities to embrace a healthier start to the day.

Seven local primary schools, which included Australian Christian College Darling Downs, Challis Primary School, Gwynne Park Primary school, Neerigen Brook Primary School, Piara Waters Primary School, Westfield Park Primary School and Xavier Catholic School, participated in the event with lots of students involved on the day.

To support and acknowledge the efforts of the schools that participated in the event, the City of Armadale provided prizes to each school for students that joined in the activity.

Students that arrived to school that day on a bike, scooter, skate board or by foot all went into their schools draw to win prizes consisting of a $50 voucher from Jet Cycles, bike helmet and bicycle lock.

Mayor Henry Zelones OAM JP said riding to and from school is great physical activity and a fun way to encourage children to be active before the school day starts.

“Congratulations to the schools and students who participated this year and we look forward to seeing more students actively travelling to school in the future”, said Mayor Zelones.
