The City of Armadale kick started its Life Skills program with the highly renowned Fashion Advocate, global ambassador to international designer Jimmy Choo.

Fashion Advocate is the corporate advisor for Jimmy Choo, spearheading Professor Jimmy Choo’s personal, philanthropic projects including the Life Skills program.

The Life Skills program empowers young women across Western Australia, providing them with choices, career pathways and opportunities to excel in the fashion industry.

“This is an incredible opportunity for young Indigenous women in our community.

Fashion Advocate has been working with a group of young women at the Champion Centre, creating an environment that supports their ideas.

“This program initiates social change through the business of fashion including deportment, grooming, modelling, designing, hair, makeup and styling.

“The Life Skills program emphasises education and training to nurture the girls' inner talents and capabilities. This class is free for the participants and will be held for young women aged 16 to 24.

“Some of the ladies participating in this program will have the opportunity to feature in the Unexpected Couture Fashion Show on Saturday 12 September at Avocados in Roleystone, as part of the Spring into Armadale festival.

This will be a spectacular show featuring local Indigenous models wearing the work of internationally renowned designers and local residents Trudi Pollard and Charlene O’Brien. A once in a lifetime opportunity for these young women,” he said.
