A local teenager will have her moment to shine when she showcases her lead guitar skills in the band South Terrace at the FRAMED Fiesta! youth music event next Friday in Piara Waters. 

Fifteen year old Rubi Bates-Waltham will play alongside three of her band mates at the City of Armadale’s youth music event of the year which runs from 6 to 9pm at Rossiter Pavilion.

City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said the City is proud to provide an event that supports young artists and musicians to showcase their talents to their fellow peers and the community.

“Every year we see some fantastic young musicians take the stage and put on a fantastic performance for the audience. I am sure this year will be no exception.”

South Terrace band have been playing for over a year, playing mostly covers but have recently started on originals.

“Alongside Rubi, the band is made up of Frances (14) a vocalist and guitarist, Lucinda (14) a bassist, and Jude (14) the bands drummer.”

South Terrace is one of two bands chosen to perform at the event alongside DJ Tobias.

“Tickets are still available and young people aged 13 to 18 are encouraged to book their free tickets before they run out.”

On the night, young people will be able to enjoy live music, games, competitions with great prizes and one free meal is available per ticket from the Mojito Kantina food truck that will be onsite. 

They can also check out the art exhibitions in the hall next door of the Outside the Frame youth art awards, in between performances.

“For those who cannot access transport to the venue, a complimentary bus will be providing return transfers from a designated Armadale and Kelmscott locations. Bus seats will require pre-booking and are limited,” he added.
