The City of Armadale will host a public meeting at Bakers House Harrisdale on Wednesday 22 January at 6.30pm to assist residents to understand the development issues in the area.
Current plans for Harrisdale, Piara Waters and Forrestdale and the City’s proposed completion of Keane Road will be outlined, together with the measures the City has proposed to minimise the environmental impacts on adjacent bushland.
The City of Armadale has prepared a Public Environmental Review (PER) on the Keane Road Strategic Link (KRSL) which is open for public review and submissions until 3 February 2014.
The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) will consider public comments prior to making recommendations to the Minister for the Environment on whether to approve the City’s road works.
The KRSL is a 1.5km single carriageway road with a dual use pathway on one side constructed to link the existing section of Keane Road, adjacent to the Harrisdale/Forrestdale High School and Harrisdale Town Centre, with the previously constructed section which is located at Anstey Road and abuts the Forrestdale Business Park West site. These major developments on Keane Road will be undergoing construction in the next two years, with the new High School taking its first students for the 2017 school year.
City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones says it is important the community has every opportunity to comment on the construction of the final stage of Keane Road, Forrestdale.
“In the PER the project consultant EnviroWorks has undertaken a full analysis of social, economic and environmental factors, to ensure the completion of the road network is undertaken in a responsible and sustainable manner.
“Some residents have voiced concerns in regards to environmental impacts that may arise resulting from the road link and we'll certainly be taking their views on board as part of our consideration,” said Mayor Zelones.
