The City of Armadale has a rich heritage and intriguing history. The Heritage Open Day is a chance for the community to participate in a range of activities, listen to guest speakers share their passion about our local history and learn more about our community’s past.

There will be a full day of activities on Sunday 17 May, between 11am and 4pm at the Minnawarra Historic Precinct, Jull Street, Armadale.

Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones said this is a great chance for the entire family to come along and get to know more about their community.

“Listen to speakers including Honorary Freeman Linton Reynolds AM LGM JP and Dr June Caunt recount a variety of histories of our region.

“Learn more about how a museum works, and the items we have in our collection, during the various activities running through the day. The kids can even participate in an old-time school lesson from the 1900s and see what education was like many years ago,” he said.

All sessions and activities are free and everyone is welcome to attend.

For a full program of the day’s activities visit www.armadale.wa.gov.au or call the History House Museum on 9399 0670.
