One of Western Australia’s fastest growing local government areas, the City of Armadale’s population is forecast to reach 127,585 by 2028.
In order to keep this growth sustainable, the City embarked on its largest ever community consultation exercise in October, with the results forming the basis of a review of the strategic community plan.
Now at the half way mark, the Growing Armadale campaign has seen almost 2000 residents have a say on the future of their city, using a simple six-question survey.
Inspired and driven by input into the Growing Armadale campaign, the updated City of Armadale Strategic Community Plan 2013-2028 will provide a blueprint for the future direction of the City and its community. It will guide the City’s policies, priorities and actions as it seeks to meet the changing needs of the current and future population.
“The Growing Armadale public consultation campaign aims to determine what people want to see for the future of their community,” Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM JP said.
“Armadale is growing at an exponential rate, requiring an understanding of the pressures that come with this sustained growth and changes in the community’s needs. This understanding will allow the City to grow sustainably and reflect what is important to the City’s residents.”
The survey is available on the City of Armadale website and Facebook page. A Growing Armadale team will also be at City events, shopping centres, sports days and community activities to collect responses.
Community input is open until Friday, 11 December.
