Armadale Gosnells Landcare Group (AGLG), in partnership with the City of Armadale and City of Gosnells, are holding a series of community planting days throughout winter.

Funding for the revegetation projects has been provided through the Swan Alcoa Landcare Program, 20 Million Trees Program, Department of Parks and Wildlife Riverbank Program and the State Natural Resource Management Program.

AGLG have secured grant funding to revegetate river foreshores and bushland in the Cities of Armadale and Gosnells with 90,000 seedlings.

Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said the AGLG has been working with local community groups and school groups for 20 years to implement environmental restoration projects with fantastic success.

“There are a number of great opportunities for residents to contribute toward improving their environment and providing habitat for native animals such as the Black Cockatoos, Bandicoots and frogs through planting native seedlings and rushes.

“The planting days begin at 9am and finish at midday, and all you have to do is turn up wearing your gumboots, gloves and hat.

“National Tree Day this year is Saturday 30 July and we are anticipating a number of keen locals, including family groups, will turn up on the morning to help plant native seedlings along the Canning River at Fancote Park in Kelmscott.

“Donate your services to Landcare for a morning, just bring a water bottle and wet weather gear if necessary – as everything else is supplied, including equipment, plants and morning tea,” said Mayor Zelones.
