Armadale Gosnells Landcare Group (AGLG), in partnership with the City of Armadale and City of Gosnells, will again be holding a series of community planting days throughout winter.
Funding for the revegetation projects has been provided through the Swan River Trust – Alcoa Landcare Project and the State Natural Resource Management Program.
AGLG have secured grant funding to revegetate river foreshores and bushland in the Cities of Armadale and Gosnells with 35,000 seedlings.
Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones said the AGLG has been working with local community groups and school groups for 18 years to implement environmental restoration projects with fantastic success.
"There are a number of great opportunities for locals to contribute toward improving their environment and providing habitat for native animals such as the Black Cockatoos, Bandicoots and Frogs through planting native seedlings and rushes.
"The planting days begin at 9am and finish at midday, and all you have to do is turn up wearing your boots and hat.
"Bring a water bottle and wet weather gear if necessary – and everything else is supplied, including equipment, plants and morning tea," said Mayor Zelones.
Upcoming planting days are:
- Saturday 21 June - Mary Carroll Park, Gosnells (James St, Gosnells)
- Sunday 22 June - Tom Bateman Bushland Reserve, Thornlie (meet near roundabout on Wilfred Rd, Thornlie)
- Sunday 29 June - Palomino Reserve, Champion Lakes (meet near bridge on McNeil Rd, Champion Lakes)
- Sunday 20 July – Roley Pools, Roleystone (meet at Roley Pools, parking off Collins Rd, Roleystone)
