Mark Saturday 16 March in your calendar – it’s your chance to experience the $26 million state of the art upgraded Armadale Fitness and Aquatic Centre (AFAC).

Grab your kids, pack your bathers, invite your neighbours and friends and come along to the FREE Community Open Day, from noon to 4pm, to see what lies behind the doors of the gleaming modern facility.

City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said we have a fantastic day planned for our community to get active and experience what they’ve been waiting for.

“There’ll be plenty of fun and entertainment for the whole family, with live music, activities for children such as mermaids and face painting, interactive games in the leisure pool, including inflatable fun and a dunk tank. There will also be a special appearance from the centre’s very own mascot Arry!

“Take a break from food prep on the day and purchase something tasty from AFAC’s café, which has healthy menu options, or from a variety of food trucks onsite for the event.

“We anticipate quite a crowd so get there early – it will take some time to see everything the centre has to offer, with lifesaving demonstrations and community group information stands.

“Wander around and check out the indoor and outdoor pools, the wellness suite that boasts a spa, sauna and steam room, the gymnasium, group fitness studio and cycle studio – offering Perth’s first fully connected Technogym Cycle Studio, and of course the modern crèche facility and the café.

“The redevelopment retains the zero depth splash pad for the little ones to enjoy, along with the much loved shady trees, and even more grassed areas and BBQ facilities,” said Mayor Zelones.

The City encourages the use of public transport, with Sherwood Train station only a short walk from the centre at 76 Champion Drive, Seville Grove. The community open day also falls during Bike Week and the Bike Doctor will be available for bike servicing.

Stay up to date with the latest news from AFAC on Facebook or subscribe to the e-newsletter.

The construction of the facility was made possible with the assistance of Federal and State Government funding.
