The artwork of more than 110 talented teenagers will be exhibited at this year’s Outside the Frame Art Awards, from Wednesday 20 to Sunday 24 August at Armadale District Hall.
Year 11 and 12 students from 19 schools across the Perth Metropolitan region, including schools north of the river, will display their works as part of the annual exhibition and awards.
This year’s exhibition will feature works in a variety of mediums from drawing, painting and sculpture, to prints, textiles and digital media/photography – something for everyone to enjoy.
Students have the chance of winning cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each category, while the school that has produced the highest quality of art, determined by the judges, will win $1000.
In addition, this year for the first time the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority (MRA), longtime supporters of the Minnawarra Art Awards, will sponsor the MRA Young Artist Award. This award is valued at $1000, comprising a cash prize of $500 and a voucher valued at $500 for art supplies.
Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones said we are delighted to have so many students participate in this year’s Outside the Frame awards.
“The City is committed to fostering young artistic talent both in the City of Armadale and the wider metropolitan region.
“Outside the Frame is quickly becoming one of the most anticipated events of the year, with art appreciators and supportive public members from all over Perth coming to view the works from these emerging young artists.
“Visitors will also have an opportunity to win a prize by entering the People’s Choice Awards and voting for their favourite piece.
“Last year’s exhibition was praised by judges and visitors alike for the impressive level of innovation, skill and use of contemporary aesthetics.
“We are expecting this year’s exhibition to once again impress viewers with the events growing professionalism and highlight the incredible artistic talent evident amongst young people in our communities,” said Mayor Zelones.
Outside the Frame Art Awards will exhibit at Armadale District Hall, corner of Jull Street and Church Avenue, from 20 to 24 August, 11am to 4pm daily.
