The City of Armadale is inviting amateur shutterbugs to enter the inaugural Focus 2016 photography competition for a chance to win a share of almost $1500 in cash prizes.

Hosted by Birtwistle Local Studies Library, the competition is asking amateur photographers to capture ‘Armadale’s changing face’.
The City of Armadale is expanding and evolving faster than ever before, and our seemingly ordinary lives in 2016 will soon become 2050’s historical adventure.

Participation in the Focus: capture Armadale’s changing face competition gives amateur photographers the chance to win up to $500 in prize money and add to Armadale's historical archives.

With Youth and Adult categories, the competition is open to all amateur photographers who are Australian residents and entrants are asked to submit photographs that best illustrate the changes in the City's places and people.

City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM JP said Armadale’s mix of old and new should offer plenty of inspiration for photographers to capture images that best portray change.

“As a rapidly progressing City that still holds its cultural and natural heritage dear, this is an opportunity for photographers to best capture our region’s changing face,” he said.

“Whether it be cultural change, the contrast of new and old infrastructure, or simply the changing face of Armadale’s residents, the images will provide a great snapshot of life in Armadale during 2016, that may be of great interest 50 years from now."

The competition runs from Tuesday, 1 March until Thursday, 31 March, 2016.
