The fifth meeting of the LIC Armadale/Murray/Serpentine Jarrahdale Local Implementation Committee (LIC) was held at the Shire of Murray on Tuesday 6 May 2014.

Chairperson of the LIC, Mayor Henry Zelones said "All of the LIC Working Groups have now met and the LIC discussed the progress reported from each group. The immediate priority for most WGs will be the preparation of various inventories, for leases, contracts, assets etc.

"A Project Officer for Local Government Reform has been appointed by the City of Armadale and will commence in June, to help the City deliver the milestones of the Reform timeframe.

"The LIC considered and adopted proposals for the new ward and Councillor representation structures, for the two expanded local governments. If the LGAB supports the boundary realignment proposed by the Minister, then these ward structures would hopefully come into play.

"We are doing our best to comply with the governments expectations. The government now needs to commit financially to this process so we don’t lose momentum," said Mayor Zelones.

The LIC decided to now meet on a monthly basis to allow time for Working Groups to meet and report to CEOs before referring progress to LIC. The next meeting of LIC will be on 3 June 2014.
