The Piara Waters Community Festival on Sunday 28 October will celebrate the City of Armadale’s rich diversity and cultural heritage with a showcase of services on offer for residents.
The free family event at Piara Waters Oval runs from noon to 4pm and will feature food outlets, rides, a Constable Care Puppet Show, Aboriginal and Maori dance performances, a Jungle Body demo, Senegalese drumming, and performances by Showtime HMS Performing Arts and Harrisdale Primary School.
City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said the event aimed to create an awareness of services available to residents that helped support their safety and wellbeing.
“All individuals have the right to go about their daily life without fear of risk of harm or injury.
“The event which happens during Community Safety Month is an opportunity for our residents living in Piara Waters and Harrisdale to get to know their neighbours and help foster a sense of community spirit,” he said.
There will be stalls and activities from a variety of groups such as the WA Cricket Association, the WA Football Commission, the West Coast Academy of Martial Arts, social and friendship groups, theatre, arts and cultural groups, local scouts, sports clubs, yoga and meditation groups, as well as physio, day care, family and mental health services.
The event will also feature police and ambulance demonstrations, free child car restraint fittings, and minor bike servicing.
