The City of Armadale has submitted a proposal for Round One of Federal funding under the Safer Streets program, which is allocated to address crime and antisocial behaviour.

City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones said with more people flocking to Armadale and greater activity in the area, it makes sense to enhance the security infrastructure to support the commercial development.

"If we are successful, a portion of the additional Federal funding of $170,000 will be directed towards the installation of a new Video Management System.

"Additional digital cameras will also be installed, bringing the total to 110 in the Armadale CBD and Council’s Buildings.

"It also means the City can continue with the replacement of its analogue cameras with more sophisticated digital cameras.

"The City’s CCTV system aims to deter and detect criminal activity and provides an extra tool for protecting the newly upgraded and vibrant City Centre.

We believe this kind of security infrastructure supports the ongoing commercial development of the Armadale CBD," said Mayor Zelones.
