Release Date:
Thursday, 28 January 2016

The Minnawarra Art Awards attracts high quality works and with the 2016 event approaching, the City of Armadale is calling for expressions of interest from artists across the Perth region.

The Minnawarra Art Awards are exhibited by the City of Armadale, curated by Robert Buratti and include acquisition and monetary prizes with a total prize pool of $16,000 including the prestigious Gerry Gauntlett Award.

Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said he was looking forward to the annual Minnawarra Art Awards Exhibition, which is a highlight in the City’s arts and events calendar.

“In 2015 we had 65 artists from around the state, 15 of whom live locally, submitting works in a range of mediums.

“Last year’s exhibition showcased 103 fantastic pieces, including the winning work of Mark Tweedie, for his emotional piece called Lost My Way.

“Members of the public are able to attend the FREE Minnawarra Art exhibition, 11am to 4pm daily from Saturday 2 April to Sunday 17 April, at the Armadale District Hall, Armadale.

“I encourage all artists wishing to participate in our exhibition to send in an expression of interest as soon as possible,” said Mayor Zelones.

Artists can submit online through www.armadale.wa.gov.au or entry forms are also available from the City’s Administration Centre, 7 Orchard Avenue, Armadale.

For further information contact the City’s Arts & Events Officer on 9394 5000.
