City of Armadale residents are encouraged to have their voices heard in this year’s local government elections by ensuring they are enrolled to vote by Friday 30 August.
To be eligible to vote residents must be enrolled on the State Electoral Roll for a residence within the City of Armadale, or for non-resident owners or occupiers you may also be eligible but must apply to the City of Armadale by 5pm on 30 August.
City of Armadale Chief Executive Officer Cliff Frewing said seven of the 14 Councillors are up for re-election in October and by registering to vote residents can play a part in shaping the City’s council for the next four years.
“The latest Community Scorecard Survey results confirmed that the City is delivering great things for the community.
“By registering to vote you can influence the selection of the person or persons who will represent your ward as a Councillor and can play an important role in what happens in your area and the overall region.”
The City’s Council makes many important decisions that affect the community, for a vast range of programs and services including: planning and development issues, protecting the bushland and reserves in our region, growing economic development and employment opportunities, community events and tourism, to future planning of community facilities and infrastructure requirements.
“I encourage all residents and ratepayers to register to vote this August,” added Mr Frewing.
The WA local government elections will be held on Saturday 19 October.
To be eligible to vote you must be either:
- Enrolled on the State Electoral roll for a residence within the City of Armadale by 30 August, or
- Enrolled on the City’s owners and occupiers roll by 30 August.
Electoral packages are estimated by the West Australian Electoral Commission to be posted to all eligible electors in early October, in plenty of time for election-day on 19 October.
