Dogs of the Dale competition
Release Date:
Monday, 30 April 2018

Your pooch will go barking mad for the City of Armadale's new photographic competition running throughout May.

Officially launched on 1 May and running for four weeks #DogsoftheDale forms part of the City’s celebrations for the opening of its newest dog park, at John Dunn Memorial Park in Kelmscott.

City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said the competition gives residents within the City of Armadale an opportunity to share photos of their canine friends on the City’s Facebook page or Instagram for a chance to win great prizes.

“Dog owners love taking photos of their four legged friends, so this is the perfect opportunity for them to showcase those photos by sharing them with their community for an opportunity to win. Photos can be taken of their dog(s) at the dog park, in their own backyard or at other parks across the City.”

There will be four categories, three based on the enclosures at John Dunn Memorial Park Dog Exercise Area: small, medium and large dog photos, and a separate puppy category. There’ll also be spot prizes awarded throughout the campaign.

“A shortlist of images from each category will be published, based on merit for the photos that best display canine cuteness and personality, creativity and interest. Then the community can all vote for their favourite pup.

“Dogs must be registered and microchipped with the City to be eligible to win. And owners must be exhibiting responsible pet ownership behaviours.”

The shortlisted images from the four categories will be posted on Facebook and the City's website for residents to vote on their favourite in each category.

All voters will go in to a draw to win a $500 gift card for Armadale Shopping City.

“One winner will be selected from each category, based on the results of the public voting. Winners from each category will receive a $300 voucher for Better Pets and Gardens Kelmscott, and two one hour dog training sessions with Roley Dogs.

“One overall winner will be selected from the category winners and will receive a $250 pet photography package with local multi-award winning pet and family photographer, 7to1 Photography, and a $1000 gift card from Better Pets and Gardens Kelmscott,” added Mayor Zelones.
