ReDiscover Armadale
Release Date:
Thursday, 14 June 2018

If you're on leave from work these school holidays, make the most of it and bring the children out to discover culture in the City of Armadale for a chance to win an iPad.

From 26 June, culture lovers and visitors to the City can go in the running to win an iPad or other bonus prizes when they enter the Perth Hills Armadale Visitor Centre’s social media competition – 'I'm a Culture Lover'.

All you have to do is take a photo of you experiencing culture around the City of Armadale, share it on @perthhillsarmadale and include the hashtags #perthhillsarmadale and #culturelover on Facebook or Instagram for a chance to win.

City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said families looking for something free to do during the holidays can come on a cultural excursion to Armadale and discover the five new murals now on display around the City Centre.

“The City is fortunate to have many captivating urban art pieces around the City Centre, following the traditions of street art which had its beginnings in Europe and America.

“The murals were created by talented artists from around the State and the globe during this year's Armadale Arts Festival, and showcase various designs including one with a global warming theme, a sentimental piece capturing 70s living in Esperance and an abstract painting open to individual interpretation.

“Discovering the urban artwork is a memorable and free activity for families and kids to enjoy. You can pick up a free walking trail map from the Visitor Centre or you can participate in the geocached trail of the urban artworks. Don't forget to take a photo of one of the murals and share it on social media with the hashtags.”

Culture lovers can make a day of it in Armadale.

“After visiting the murals, culture seekers can wander through the Artist Retail Collective in the Jull Street Mall, and grab a coffee and cake before enjoying a local playground at one of the Parks scattered throughout the City of Armadale; or check out the Visitor Centre's latest blog posts for other inspiration.”

From 1 August, Culture lovers can experience spring in the Perth Hills Armadale, when the local cultural scene blooms and wildflowers blanket the countryside.
