The City of Armadale is supporting the WA Police to host a Community Safety Day event in Minnawarra Park during Community Safety month, on Sunday 19 October.
The month of October is recognised state wide as Community Safety month, and is coordinated by the Injury Control Council of Western Australia (ICCWA).
ICCWA is the peak body involved in injury prevention and safety promotion in WA. Community Safety month promotes shared responsibility for safety across the community, raising awareness of safe behaviours and promoting active participation.
Mayor Henry Zelones says this includes road and water safety, emergency management, hazards within the home or workplace, suicide and alcohol related violence.
“Community Safety Month is held every October and reminds us all that we all have a role in making our communities a safer place to live, work, play and travel.
“This community day will provide an opportunity for residents to become better informed around community safety issues, participate in a wide variety of activities and learn how to make safe behaviour choices.
“Organisations providing activities and information at the event include the Roleystone Bushfire Brigade, The Bike Doctor, Bentley-Armadale Medicare Local, the City’s Ranger Services and Environmental Health Services, the Commissioner and his band the Fifth, Neighbourhood Watch and other community members.
“Community safety is everyone’s business, so why not come along and get involved – have some fun and learn something,” said Mayor Zelones.
The event will be held in Minnawarra Park on Sunday 19 October from 10am to 3pm.
