Community members have a chance to sneak a peek at the $4.3M makeover of the Armadale District Hall in the heart of Armadale next Saturday 30 March.
The iconic hall will re-open its doors to the public for the first time in over 12 months for community groups and members to view the redeveloped hall at a free Community Open Day from 10am to 2pm.
City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said the refurbishment of the hall has been delivered on time and on budget, and has resulted in a fantastic outcome.
The historic hall holds a lot of history and significance to many residents who have lived in the Armadale area for many years and it has now been restored to its former glory, and received sympathetic additions.
“The hall was originally built in 1936 and has a colourful history. It has been used for a range of occasions from weddings, to dance lessons and formal dances including debutant balls, dinners, parties, concerts and movie nights, to lectures and political and community meetings. It even once featured in a movie.”
“It will now once again take pride of place to host civic and community events and activities.”
“Interested community members and community groups can come to the open day to view the magnificent work that has taken place and see how the City has revived its original heritage and character while incorporating modern additions.
Major upgrades included a new central entry foyer, roof and ceilings and a new multi-purpose space adjoining the existing halls, along with functional landscaping.
“Community groups can also view the hall and spaces available for hire on the day, and submit a Registration of Interest to regularly hire the hall.”
Devonshire teas will be available for purchase for $4 each from the Armadale Society of Artists, and entertainment will be provided by the Armadale City Concert Band.
For more information on how to register your interest to become a regular hirer please contact the City via info@armadale.wa.gov.au or 9394 5000.
