The City of Armadale is partnering with the Kelmscott Church of Christ (KCC) to provide lunch for those who are socially isolated, homeless, at risk or living in poverty.

The Kelmscott Church of Christ (KCC) currently provides dinners free of charge every Tuesday evening for vulnerable community members through their Café Lia program. Over 400 meals per week are provided to individuals in the community, with an increase in people over the age of 50 years attending.

“The KCC determined that in order to cater for the needs of the older people attending, a lunch program is required. The City has partnered with KCC to trial a lunch program for the older people in need in our community,” said Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM JP

“The City will be supporting a trial of the Café Lia lunch program for 16 weeks by contributing to the cost of the food required. The program is aimed at older people who are socially isolated, living in poverty, homeless or at risk of homelessness.

“The program offers a safe environment and a nutritious meal in a setting that fosters community spirit,” he said.

A launch of the Café Lia lunches will be held on Tuesday 31 March at 11am.
