The City of Armadale celebrated National Reconciliation week on Friday 30 May with the Champions Reconciliation Luncheon held at the Champion Centre in Seville Grove.

Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones said each year National Reconciliation Week is a time for everyone to reflect on the diverse contributions and achievements of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

"This year's theme Let’s Walk the Talk focused on engaging everyone in the reconciliation journey and was an opportunity to recognise our shared histories to help develop stronger, more positive and respectful relationships.

"The event was very well attended with around sixty people enjoying the stories from community members and the opportunity to celebrate the wealth of indigenous culture during the afternoon," said Mayor Zelones.

The Champion Centre provides a range of free, culturally-based programs and activities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the City of Armadale.

All programs are free and focused on building strong relationships amongst the local Indigenous communities and enhancing knowledge of the Noongar culture.
