After a 26 year history of Carols by Candlelight Christmas would not be Christmas in the City of Armadale without this delightful event kicking off the festive season in Memorial Park.
Santa Claus and his toy parade are coming back again this year, and Jull Street Mall will be transformed on Sunday, December 7 from 6.30pm with all the children’s favourite Christmas characters.
Mayor Henry Zelones said the children will be mesmerised as they watch the festive toy parade through the mall.
“It’s advisable to get there early to secure your spot and the opportunity for photos alongside the children’s favourite Christmas character”.
This year the City is pleased to welcome back Soloist Katherine John, Classic Sounds Vocal Ensemble, the Roleystone Theatre Choir and Armadale Primary School. They will be joined by newcomers from Dale Christian College and John Wollaston Anglican Community School.
Once again the highly renowned and multi-award winning 40 piece Armadale City Concert Band will provide the back-up music to the carols.
The Armadale City Concert Band was established in 1987 and they performed the first Carols by Candlelight event in 1989. The event became so popular and well attended, that the City of Armadale included the Carols by Candlelight in their annual events program.
This year will see the final performance by Don Cook, the Musical Director of the band who has conducted the band at the Carols by Candlelight concert for almost thirty years.
“We look forward to seeing a record crowd again this year in Memorial Park as singing carols in the park with family and friends is a wonderful way to celebrate the spirit of Christmas,” said Mayor Zelones.
