The City of Armadale has reviewed its Waste Services and trends in the utilisation of the services offered, including the Roleystone Green Waste Site.

The satellite waste disposal site at Springdale Road, Roleystone will continue to open on Saturdays and Sundays for the disposal of green waste. However, the Bulk Bin weekends will cease after Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 December 2016, due to low usage.

Mayor Henry Zelones said taking into account the low use of the facility, which comes at an additional cost to the general ratepayer, the full service as it currently exists cannot be justified on value for money considerations.

“Only 163 residents, or 4.1% of the 4000 households in the catchment, made use of the three bulk-bin weekends for disposal of junk waste material in 2015/16.

The Springdale Road facility will remain open for disposal of green waste, to assist landowners to clear their properties in preparation for the bushfire season.

“All residents across the City will continue to receive the normal junk and two green waste collections throughout the year”, he said.

Residents are also encouraged to make use of the Armadale Landfill and Recycling facility on Hopkinson Road, where items such as cardboard, scrap metal, batteries, aluminium cans and glass bottles are accepted free in a single load.

The Drop’n’Shop Reuse Centre located at the same facility also accepts a wide range of items free of charge, including furniture, kitchenware, garden items, bric-a-brac, toys, books and clothing.
