Comments attributed to City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP

After 21 years of service to the City of Armadale, the City will be seeking a replacement of the CEO, Mr Tame.

Some months ago, Mr Tame advised the CEO review panel that he would be seeking a two to three year extension to his contract to enable completion of a number of the City’s key projects within the term of his employment. The current contract ends on 27 June this year.

At the Ordinary Council Meeting on Tuesday evening the Council debated a way forward and after a near two hour discussion it was decided that the City should advertise the position and would engage a facilitator to assist in the process.

With the growth of the City continuing at a high rate and several proposed future programs being considered, it was felt that a longer-term CEO would be in the best interests of the City to guide the Council over the next 10 years.

Council recognised Mr Tame’s outstanding service to the City and conceded he would be hard to replace. With the 2019 Local Government elections only months away it was seen as necessary to begin this process now.
