Verge gardening, the future of residential energy and food security will all be explored in a free workshop series, Change makers: Climate science and adaptation, planned for National Science Week from 1 to 12 August.
The series includes two activities at the Kelmscott Community Garden. The first is an after-school activity for the kids on Friday 10 August.
“Volunteers from the garden will provide honey tasting, beeswax candle making and everyone will leave with a biodegradable seedling pot. The following day, families are invited back into the garden to learn from the experts the important role that bees play in food production and our wider ecosystem,” said Armadale Mayor Heny Zelones OAM JP.
“The workshop series demonstrates that residents and community groups across the City are coming together to develop creative solutions to problems, whether it be gardening in a drying climate or promoting urban biodiversity,” he said.
The workshop series also includes a presentation, Reverse Global Warming, at the Armadale Library and a fully booked session by Sabrina Hahn at Hidden Specialty Coffee, Kelmscott.

Change makers: climate science and adaptation is an initiative being delivered by the City of Armadale in partnership with Switch your thinking and the SJ Food and Farm Alliance, to showcase the different ways community, industry and government are responding and adapting to a changing climate.
