The City of Armadale is again calling aspiring young writers to put pen to paper and enter the Armadale Young Writers’ Awards.
2022 is the 12th year of the Armadale Young Writers’ Awards which was established to encourage excellence in creative writing, and is open to all students from Year 3 through to Year 12 who live or attend school within the City of Armadale.
There are five categories for prose entries with a first prize of $200, second prize of $150, and third prize of $100 awarded in each category. Entries will be judged in the following categories:
- Years 3-4
- Years 5-6
- Years 7-8
- Years 9-10
- Years 11-12
The best overall story will be chosen from all award-winning entries and receive a book voucher. Each place getter will also receive a trophy, certificate, and a copy of the anthology of winning entries.
Entries must be prose only, and stories should be 2,000 words or less. Poetry, scripts, or graphic novels will not be accepted.
