Armadale residents are encouraged to keep dollars in the local community by supporting locally owned businesses this Christmas season.

With more than 100,000 square metres of retail floor space throughout the City of Armadale, it is no surprise that retail is the lifeblood of its residents. The City is encouraging the community to consider buying local this festive season.

Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM JP said that the festive season is a time for family and friends, and local small businesses are more often the place of employment for young family members.

“Small businesses contribute to the growth and vitality of the region by reinvesting into the community through local jobs, sponsorships and by supporting other business,” he said.

“Earlier this year the WA Minister for Small Business Joe Francis referred to Armadale as the small business capital of the metropolitan region. We have seen rapid growth in our local industry with 3958 businesses in Armadale with plenty of variety on offer for shoppers,

“The City is home to a diverse group of home-based businesses and artists who are creating unique gifts for your loved ones. While you are making your holiday preparations, consider shopping at your local business and using local service providers.”

The Armadale Visitors Centre is currently showcasing products from local businesses and artists including:

  • Seahorse Silks – images digitally printed on silks (silk scarves, sarongs, kaftans & resort wear);
  • Robyn Boothey – Photographer;
  • Wild thyme natural soap - All Wild thyme products use natural ingredients, including pure essential oils; and,
  • Yirrakurl-YirraKurl - produces and licenses distinctly Australian Aboriginal art for commercial purposes.
