Armadale Gosnells Landcare Group (AGLG), in partnership with the City of Armadale and City of Gosnells, are holding a series of community planting days over the coming months.

AGLG have secured grant funding to revegetate river foreshores and bushland in the Cities of Armadale and Gosnells with over 100,000 seedlings to be planted this year.

There are a number of great opportunities during the next few months for residents to contribute toward improving their local environment, and providing habitat for native animals such as the Black Cockatoos, Bandicoots and Frogs through planting native seedlings and rushes.

Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said the AGLG has been working with local community groups and school groups for over 20 years to implement environmental restoration projects throughout the bushland with fantastic success.

“The planting days begin at 9am and finish at midday, with morning tea provided. All you have to do is turn up wearing suitable clothing, shoes, hats and your water bottle - all equipment and tools are supplied.

“Volunteers are encouraged to come for an hour or for the whole morning – many hands make light work.

“All ages are welcome and no prior tree planting experience is required. Just bring along your family, friends or neighbours to enjoy the great outdoors while you meet some like-minded people and learn a little about native plants,” he said.

Upcoming planting days:

  • Sunday 27 May, Homestead Park (meet at Parkside Dr & Helena Cres, Thornlie)
  • Saturday 2 June, Burslem Bridge Downstream (meet at Parkside Drive near Coolabaroo Neighbourhood Centre, Thornlie)
  • Sunday 10 June, Wright Brook (meet near corner of Connell Ave and Brookside Ave)
  • Saturday 16 June, Brixton St Wetlands (meet at the end of Alton St, Kenwick)
  • Sunday 17 June, Ranford Stream (meet at end of Savage Rd, Kelmscott)
