The City of Armadale Writers’ Festival will include a weeklong feast of conversation, literature and the sheer joy of words.

Whether you are a reader, aspiring writer or simply enjoy listening to excellent speakers, come along and be entertained and informed during the festival which runs from Thursday 29 August to Saturday 7 September 2019.

City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said this year there is an exciting range of informative and creative sessions, including author talks that will appeal to a wide audience of readers and aspiring authors.

“The first workshop in the Festival this year features an evening of audience participation with two of Australia’s finest crime writers, Dervla McTiernan and Sara Foster, who will discuss their latest novels.

“Cristy Burn, a science writer and children’s author, will present a workshop suitable for children over seven years. Cristy will guide the children through the process of designing and drawing a lighthouse - be it a wacky or robotic creation.

Further sessions over the next few days include author talks with Holden Sheppard and Laurie Steed as they discuss Invisible Boys, Holden’s T.A.G. Hungerford Award winning novel.

Well-known and award winning crime author Alan Carter will chat about his novels and discuss character development and the final event will see Western Australian authors Anthea Hodgson and Rachael Johns discuss what makes a good read.

Places are limited and bookings are essential for all these sessions. Visit library.armadale.wa.gov.au or call 9394 5125 to book your place.
