Australia Day in Armadale saw the City welcome 125 new citizens from 17 countries across the world with a special citizenship ceremony forming part of the celebrations.

Mayor Henry Zelones OAM JP said it was wonderful to officiate at this year’s citizen ceremony which always marks a unique occasion for the City, and those making the decision to join our Australian community.

“Australia Day is always a great day to come together as a nation and celebrate what we love about this country, so what better day to become an Australian citizen.”

“It was wonderful to see so many people from all around the globe coming together to take the oath,” Mayor Henry Zelones OAM JP

Armadale continues to be in the top ten fastest growing localities in the nation and shows no signs of slowing down, with the population expected to tip over 141,000 by 2036.

“The last figures we have available from 2011 indicate that just over 5% of the population have migrated from another country to Armadale, making our City diverse and unique,” Mayor Zelones said.
