The City of Armadale moved into 2014 with a population topping 73,200 and with a projected population of 75,000 by 30 June, representing an annual population growth of 5.3%, or 3,788 new residents, in the last year.

Armadale and Seville Grove were recently listed among the nation’s investment ‘hotspots’, as high growth suburbs with significant infrastructure investment, according to the recent 2014 Fast 50 report created by property magazine Smart Property Investment.

Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones said the recent findings further emphasise the City’s exponential growth.

“These statistics equate to an average of 10 people moving into the City of Armadale every day of the year, and 30 new homes being built every week. This is reflective of the City’s continued expansion of urban growth areas with developers producing affordable homes and a variety of housing options.

“The high numbers of people attracted to the City reflects its many assets and opportunities - in particular its convenient location and range of facilities and services in the Strategic Metropolitan Centre.

“We are also close to major transport routes including Tonkin Highway, Kwinana Freeway and South West Highway, we are a major retail centre with more than 100,000m2 of retail floor space spread through the City and we are well serviced by public transport.

“Continued commercial growth at Forrestdale Business Park, with seven planning applications (worth a total estimated development value of $102.1 million) already received so far this month, demonstrates the City is attracting interest from a variety of corporate investors who see the vast opportunities that exist within the City.

“The growing community appreciates the quality infrastructure the City provides and our commitment to good services and facilities. We know people are aware at rates time that these services come at a cost, but every cent is carefully spent on improving quality of life for our residents which has a flow on effect on land values in the district, and benefits everyone.” said Mayor Zelones.
