Despite a slowdown in Western Australia’s population growth, the City of Armadale is still recording substantial growth, with recent figures estimating the current City population at 87,437 (1 July 2016).

The latest figures by Informed Decisions (.id) forecast the City to grow to 144,826 by 2036, an overall increase in population of 65.64 per cent over the next 20 years.

This should see the City welcome our 100,000th resident on 7 July, 2019.

City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM JP said that for the first time in a decade, WA was not the fastest growing state in Australia – falling behind Victoria.

“The State’s growth rate slowed to 1.6 per cent for the year ended 2014, largely due to interstate migration turning negative, whilst Armadale continued to grow at 5.3 per cent in the same period” he said.

“Regardless, Perth is still adding up to 40,000 people a year.

“Armadale’s overall projected population growth remains strong, with seven people expected to move into the City every day for the next 20 years.

“During the past year we have continued to see exceptional residential growth, with subdivision and development approvals maintaining record figures.

“While some local governments have seen a reduction in growth this has not been the case in Armadale and we remain one of Western Australia’s fastest growing local government areas.”

Averages from 2016 - 2036
