That is the question residents of high fire risk areas in the City of Armadale are being asked as the summer bushfire season approaches.

With the launch of the “Are you Bushfire Ready?” campaign last week, now is the time to prepare for the impending bush fire season. In a collaborative approach with Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES), the City of Armadale would like to encourage residents/landowners in rural residential areas to ensure they are doing everything possible to mitigate the risks and prepare for the bushfire season.

City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said as we head into summer residents’ are reminded that now is the time we should all be preparing our properties.

“Bushfire preparedness resources have been produced by DFES and we are working closely with them to make sure our residents have the information they need to stay safe this summer.

“We encounter high bushfire risk conditions every year and it is important those who live in high risk areas don’t become complacent.

“You need to have a Bushfire Survival Plan in place and to make sure your property is properly prepared in case a fire starts in your area.

“Most importantly, you need to act quickly and decisively to protect yourself and your family in the event of danger. Relocating at the last minute is dangerous.

“I strongly urge all residents living in bushfire risk areas to heed the Prepare, Act, Survive messages,” said Mayor Zelones.

Free Prepare, Act, Survive booklets and DVD’s are available from the Armadale, Seville Grove and Kelmscott libraries, Armadale Visitor Centre and Ranger Services.
